Vocal range test from the lowest to the highest note you can hold

Turn on the microphone, click start and sing from low to high, holding each note for a second. Only notes you hold steadily count, not shouting.

How to use the tuner

Note and cents. The big note is the closest one to what you sing; the cents say how far above (+) or below (−) it you are. A semitone is 100 cents, and the ear starts to notice around 20 to 25.

Stability is the share of time your pitch stayed still (moving less than 30 cents every tenth of a second). Aim above 70%. Sustain counts how many seconds in a row you stayed within 20 cents of the note; with the guide playing, the goal is to hold 4 to 6 seconds with the needle still.

Guide note. Pick a note, play the guide and sing along: the green band on the roll is the target, and the dots turn green in tune, yellow close and red off. "Accept another octave" lets you sing the same note an octave above or below the guide.

Vocal range. The test keeps the lowest and the highest note you held steadily for at least half a second. The voice type is only an approximation by range: it helps you pick songs in your tessitura, it does not replace a teacher.

Use headphones when playing the guide, otherwise the microphone hears the guide along with your voice.
