    Genesis 5:27 says Methuselah lived 969 years, the longest life span the Bible records for anyone.

  2. What city's walls fell after the Israelites marched around it?

    Jericho

    Joshua 6:15–20 says the Israelites marched around Jericho seven times on the seventh day, and the walls fell when the priests blew the trumpets and the people shouted.

  3. Who was the strongest man in the Bible?

    Samson

    Judges 13–16 tells the story of Samson, a judge of Israel known for his great strength. In Judges 16:17, he links that strength to his Nazirite vow and his uncut hair.

  4. Who was the first king of Israel?

    Saul

    The prophet Samuel anoints Saul in 1 Samuel 10:1, and in 1 Samuel 10:24 the people hail him as king.

  5. Who was swallowed by a whale in the Bible?

    Jonah

    Jonah 1:17 says a great fish swallowed Jonah, and he stayed inside it for three days and three nights (Jonah 2:1 in the NABRE). The KJV calls it a whale in Matthew 12:40, where Jesus refers to Jonah's story.

    Bethlehem, in Judea

    Matthew 2:1 and Luke 2:4–7 both place Jesus' birth in Bethlehem in Judea. Luke calls it the town of David and adds that Mary laid the baby in a manger.

  7. How many disciples did Jesus have?

    Twelve apostles

    Many people followed Jesus, but Luke 6:12–16 says he chose twelve of his disciples and called them apostles. Matthew 10:2–4 lists their names.

  8. What did Jesus feed the 5,000 with?

    Five loaves and two fish

    All four Gospels record this miracle. In John 6:5–13, a boy's five barley loaves and two fish feed about 5,000 men, and the disciples gather twelve baskets of leftovers.

  9. Who betrayed Jesus?

    Judas Iscariot

    In Matthew 26:14–16, Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, agrees to hand Jesus over to the chief priests for thirty pieces of silver; in Matthew 26:47–49, he identifies Jesus to the crowd with a kiss.

  10. Where were the disciples first called Christians?

    Antioch

    According to Acts 11:26, Antioch is where the followers of Jesus were first called Christians, after Barnabas and Saul (Paul) spent a whole year there meeting with the church and teaching many people.

Which Bible translation should I use to check the answers?

Use the Bible you already read: the KJV, NIV, ESV, NKJV, NLT, and Catholic Bibles such as the NABRE all work. The quiz gives chapter-and-verse references instead of quoting verses, and where the NABRE numbers a passage differently, the explanation says so.

How many books are in the Bible?

Protestant Bibles have 66 books, and Catholic Bibles have 73. Both have the same 27 books in the New Testament. The difference is in the Old Testament: 39 books in Protestant Bibles and 46 in Catholic Bibles, which also include books such as Tobit, Judith, and 1 and 2 Maccabees.
