    Audio Cutter and Ringtone Maker

Open a file that's already on your phone or computer (MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, WhatsApp voice notes, FLAC, or MP4 and MOV video), mark the section with the two handles on the waveform and download it. Play clip plays only the marked section, with the fades and volume of the final file, so you can nail the chorus before saving.

    How to use it

    1. Tap Choose audio or video or drag the file onto the page.
    2. Drag the start and end handles across the waveform. For precision, use the zoom, the arrow keys or type the time (e.g. 1:05.5).
    3. Check it with Play clip; Hear the ending plays the last 3 seconds.
    4. If you like, add a fade-in and a fade-out and tick Normalize volume.
    5. Pick the format and tap Download clip. On a phone, Share sends the file straight to WhatsApp or your messaging app.

Nothing is uploaded: your browser reads, cuts and encodes the audio right on your device. No queue, no usage limits and no sign-up.

How to set a song as your iPhone ringtone

Download the clip as iPhone ringtone (M4R), up to 30 seconds long, and save it to the Files app. In GarageBand, create an Audio Recorder project, import the file with the loop browser button, go back to My Songs, long-press the project and choose Share › Ringtone. From a computer, drag the .m4r onto the iPhone in Finder (Mac) or iTunes (Windows). Then pick it in Settings › Sounds & Haptics › Ringtone. If your browser doesn't offer M4R, download a WAV: GarageBand imports it the same way.

    Ringtones on Android and WhatsApp

On Android, M4A or OGG work directly: in Settings › Sound › Phone ringtone, tap add and pick the file (if it doesn't show up, move it to the Ringtones folder). For WhatsApp, use Share after downloading; OGG (Opus) is the format WhatsApp uses for its own voice messages, and the file comes out very small.

    Tips

    • To make the ringtone start on the chorus, zoom in and place the start handle just before the first syllable.
    • A 1 to 2 s fade-out avoids an abrupt ending; a 0.5 s fade-in removes the click when the clip starts in the middle of a note.
    • Normalize raises the volume until the peak sits at −1 dB. On a recording made from far away, the hiss goes up too: listen before you download.
    • Just want to change the format, or convert several files at once? Use the audio converter.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I cut a song to make a ringtone?

Open the song, mark the chorus with the handles (up to 30 s for iPhone), add a fade-out and download: iPhone ringtone (M4R) for iPhone, M4A or OGG for Android.

How do I make a song my ringtone on iPhone?

Download it as M4R (up to 30 s) and import it with GarageBand (Share › Ringtone), or drag the .m4r onto the iPhone in Finder or iTunes. Then choose it in Settings › Sounds & Haptics › Ringtone.

Can I cut a WhatsApp voice message?

Yes. Save the voice note to your device (on iPhone: long-press it, Forward, share, Save to Files; on Android it's in WhatsApp's media folder) and open it here. The format is Opus: it opens in Chrome, Edge and Firefox; on iPhone it depends on your iOS version.

Does it cut MP3 files? Why does the file come out as M4A?

Yes, MP3 files open normally. The output is M4A (AAC), OGG or WAV because browsers have no MP3 encoder, and the most widely used free encoder has a license that doesn't fit the site. M4A plays on any phone and in WhatsApp, with the same or better quality at the same size.

Can I cut the audio from an MP4 video?

Yes. Open an MP4, MOV or WebM video from your device: only the audio is read, and the downloaded file has no picture.

Can I cut a song from YouTube?

Not from a link: the tool doesn't download anything from the internet; it only opens files already on your device.

Is the audio uploaded to a server?

No. The file is opened, cut and encoded in your browser; nothing leaves your device.

Is there a size or length limit?

There's no limit on how often you use it. The limit is memory: on a phone, audio up to about 40 minutes; on a computer, much more. Heavy MP4 or MOV videos open fine because only the audio track is read.
